Alex Amirian
Alex Amirian is a contemporary American author, filmmaker, philosopher, and former professional athlete.
Born on November 24, 1969, in Yerevan, Armenia, he developed an early passion for literature, cinema, philosophy, and sports. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy at Yerevan State University, specializing in the philosophy of the Ancient East.
For many years, Amirian pursued a successful career in martial arts and coaching. In 1997, he became President of the Armenian Muay Thai Federation before relocating to the United States, where he devoted himself to filmmaking and writing.
As a filmmaker, he has directed both documentary and feature films exploring themes of human resilience, hope, courage, and the enduring strength of the human spirit. His works have been showcased at international film festivals.
Among his most recognized literary works is Warm Sand, or the Road to the Temple, which received the Grand Prix at the Cannes International Festival and won First Place in the “Book of the Year” International Literary Competition in Germany.
His novel A Dialogue Without Words won First Place at the International Impact Book Awards, and Alex Amirian was subsequently named a Finalist for the 2026 Author of the Year Award.
His latest novel, The Flower of Harlem, is a psychological crime drama set in the vibrant world of Jazz Harlem during the late 1950s and early 1960s, against the backdrop of the Civil Rights Movement and the era of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The story explores themes of faith, hope, family, justice, resilience, and second chances through a compelling and emotionally rich narrative.
