Born in Dublin in 1950. Left Ireland in 1973, and lived and worked abroad.

In 1995, found her firstborn son who had been adopted in 1971, and had a successful reunion.

Returned to Ireland in 1998. Co-founded and ran an NGO on parental child abduction.

Won a Fulbright scholarship to study at the Harvard Kennedy School in 2001 and graduated with a Master of Public Administration (MPA) in 2002.

Moved to France and lived there until 2022, when she returned to Ireland. Published her first novel, based on her own story, in 2020.

Married to Neil, she has four sons and four granddaughters who live in Ireland, USA, Luxembourg and Argentina.
