Amy Watkins is an accomplished author and family physician. She is a Washington, DC native who graduated Cum Laude from Frostburg State University with a major in Biology. She obtained a Medical Degree from University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2007. She served as a physician in the United States Navy for eight years. She currently works as a family medicine physician for the Defense Health Agency in Norfolk, Virginia. She is the author of three published novels. Her first book, “200 Letters” is the recipient of a 2020 Readers’ Favorite Award. Her second novel, “Cute for a Black Girl” won three Book Fest Awards. All of her books are fiction novels addressing several important social issues including abuse, addiction, wellness, mental health, prejudice, mass incarceration, teenage pregnancy, and LGBTQ matters. She is an avid reader enjoying fiction romance novels and African American literature. She also volunteers for the dance ministry at her church. She resides in Virginia with her husband, three children, and adopted dog. She remains a strong advocate of equality for all, coexistence, and eliminating destructive prejudice ideology.
