I wrote A TOUCH OF MOTHER whilst tackling the collective teenage years of my three children and two dogs. It was inspired by the idea of betrayed trust, particularly amongst women, who often least suspect each other of deception. The novel uses two platforms for storytelling which I wanted to highlight, old age and homelessness.
Putting women at the centre of the story is important to me. Only when my self-published dystopian novel Colour of the Day (2018) was described as feminist literature did I understand that my lived experience of being female was influencing my work and giving female characters power.
