Carlos Alba

Carlos Alba’s debut novel Kane’s Ladder was published to critical acclaim by Polygon in 2008 followed, in 2011, by The Songs of Manolo Escobar which recounts his experiences of growing up with Spanish parentage in 1970s Scotland. His third novel, There’s a Problem with Dad, published by Ringwood in 2021, was inspired by his experiences of living with a family member with undiagnosed, high functioning autism. Carlos worked as a journalist for 20 years including, for 10 years, at The Sunday Times, where he was the paper’s Scotland Editor. He also held held senior executive roles at The Herald and The Daily Record, before launching his media consultancy, Carlos Alba Media, that provides public relations and marketing support to a range of clients in the private, public and Third sectors. He lives in Glasgow with his wife, Hilary, and three children, Molly, Michael and Carmen.
