Caroline Lavoie

Caroline Lavoie is a French-Canadian writer of YA speculative fiction. She grew up in Quebec and flew west at the age of twenty with one lucky feather and three words of English in her backpack. She now spends her days on the homestead, growing food and improbable tales from seed.

In recent years, her short stories have appeared in Cloud Lake Literary, Black Cat Books’ original anthology, Black Cat, Haunted Words Press Issue Five: Wicked Woodlands, and Graveside Press’ collection Tales from the Graveside (forthcoming – Winter 2025/26). Her debut novel, Devil by the Tail, was a finalist in CANSCAIP’s 2022 Writing for Children Competition and was released by Deep Hearts YA in 2024.

Caroline is a member of the Federation of BC Writers and is currently Lead Editor for Black Cat Books’ forthcoming anthology, The Kindread Coast. She lives in northern British Columbia on the land of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation.
