ChristinaL.Marcham

Originally from the UK, Christina has spent her career in humanitarian and international development, working alongside communities across sub-Saharan Africa, The Middle East, South-East Asia, Melanesia and the wider Pacific. With an academic background in social anthropology and public health, she has devoted much of her professional life to listening to people's stories and immersing herself in the cultures, histories and traditions of the places she has called home. These experiences have fuelled her fascination with identity, belonging and place, and continue to shape her writing.

She is the author of three children's books, including two educational stories exploring HIV/AIDS and bereavement, and wrote the first 105 episodes of Dsiders, Africa's pioneering mobile phone edutainment soap opera for young people. Whether writing for children or adults, Christina is drawn to stories that explore identity, resilience, family, and the ways the past shapes the present.

Now living in Aotearoa New Zealand with her husband, their three children, and their black Labrador, Bonnie, Christina is writing her debut historical novel. Spanning the UK, Aotearoa and the Pacific, it follows the ripple effects of a long-held family secret carried across generations, exploring how identity is shaped by family, history and place. Inspired by the rich histories of these places and the lives of ordinary people whose stories are often overlooked, her fiction seeks to illuminate the past through deeply human, character-led stories.
