Elizabeth Jean Braun is the author of The Rhythm of Grief: A Memoir of Love, Loss and Learning to Breathe Again. A retired firefighter/paramedic and fire captain, she spent more than three decades in public service, including sixteen years as a science teacher. Following the death of her husband, George, from occupational cancer, Braun began writing about love, caregiving, loss, and the complicated reality of building a life alongside grief. Her work draws on lived experience with warmth, honesty, and an occasional touch of humor. She lives in Gainesville, Florida, where she continues to write, speak, and support conversations about grief and the families who live through it.
