BIOGRAPHY
Etan J. Tal was born on Aug. 13, 1948, in Jerusalem, Israel. From an early age, he showed a strong interest in photography, which would later shape his personal and professional path.
Tal served as a youth instructor and later as a photographer in the IDF. In 1972, Tal completed preclinical medical studies at the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. He then studied medical sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, earning an MSc. in pharmacology in 1976. For many years, Tal worked as a laboratory technician at Hadassa Hospital in Jerusalem.
Tal studied in the Film & TV Department at the University of Tel-Aviv and made several documentaries as a screenwriter and director, including LEAH (awarded the "Best Documentary Film" prize at the Short Film Contest in Israel, 1982) and BABEL IN BERLIN (produced for SFB in 1987).
Tal built and maintains the joseftal.org website, dedicated to his father. He is an avid gardener, a Wikipedia editor, and holds a private pilot's license.
Tal relocated to Greece in 2021 for political reasons. He continues to write for film, striving to realize a feature-length drama.
