It is the 50th anniversary of "The Swim". I am 68 years old now, and looking back on an event in my life that now seems somewhat surreal: the naivety, the ignorance, the teenage angst, and, of course, the comradery. This is my first book, and thus, I do not have a list of writing credentials. I am, however, a long-distance swimmer. I won the 1971 Waikiki Roughwater Swim on Oahu, Hawaii, in the fastest time in the history of the event. I have successfully crossed the Moloka'i Channel in 1974. I became the first person ever to attempt a solo swim across the Kaieiewaho Channel in 1976, (72 miles from O'ahu to Kauai) but never succeeded, a feat that has yet to be accomplished. I was on the winning team, in the 1981 Maui Channel Swim between Lanai and Maui.

I am currently residing in Houston, Texas., I have three children: Zachariah, age 29; Noah, age 27; and Hannah, Age 24. I live quietly with my wife Nicole. I try to swim 3 miles a day in a pool.
