Bill was born in Glendale, California. A native of Southern California, he attended public schools in the Highland Park area of Northeast Los Angeles and attended Glendale college briefly, deciding he’d rather work with his hands. As an apprentice carpenter, he took classes at Trade Tech in downtown Los Angeles.

As an adult, he returned to finish his Associate of arts degree at Cerritos College. It was his lot in life to lead two lives simultaneously, as did his father and grandfather. He, and they became ordained ministers in the New Apostolic Church, which required ministers to serve without remuneration.

Bill’s trade of choice was pattern making, an integral part of the foundry industry. After a successful five-year apprenticeship, his manufacturing skills and foresight helped bring his company into the computerized age of manufacturing, which led to a partnership and his eventual ownership of the company. And yes, he did this while raising a family and carrying for several congregations assigned to him in both the English and Spanish-speaking communities in Southern California.

His responsibilities also brought him into central Mexico six times a year for over a decade, where he also carried out his mission as a minister.

A hybrid, blue-collar worker and philosopher, Bill enjoyed pondering life’s big questions. He enjoyed several epiphanies in his religious life. These reset his concept of truth, captivating his curious mind and providing tangible facts which he employed in his quest to know more about himself and the multifaceted world he’d grown up in.

An atheist for fifteen years now, Bill finds solace in music, (voice and instrumental) sculpture, and poetry. Familiar with the art of communication, writing has become the newest tool in this renaissance man’s arsenal. He enjoys sharing his unique take on the human experience, having experienced it through so many lenses. This memoir is his first book into which he has invested four years of his life.
