Gregory Duralev is an alumnus of Washington University in St. Louis School of Law (2023), a master’s degree he holds alongside two other Master’s degrees in engineering and economics from prestigious Russian universities. A certified human rights consultant and an expert on transnational repression and INTERPOL abuse, he was invited in 2024 by California assemblymembers to advocate for landmark state legislation designed to protect dissidents from foreign government interference – a testament to his standing as a vital voice in the American legal and political landscape.
His multifaceted career began in Russia as a competitive bodybuilder, where he earned the elite title of Master of Sport of the Russian Federation. However, his life took a defiant turn when he rejected a local gangster’s demand to pay a significant sum of money for disobedience. In retaliation, gangsters with high-level connections, in collusion with the regional police, fabricated criminal charges against Gregory. He then authored a comprehensive civil initiative aimed at developing the Russian economy and combating corruption, uploading it directly to the official website of the President of Russia. This act of political activism triggered a campaign of state persecution, in which both INTERPOL and the U.S. government – driven by an abusive Red Notice – astonishingly assisted his Russian persecutors, leading to 525 days of unlawful immigration detention under a deportation order fabricated by the U.S. government.
Today, Gregory remains “unsafe in America” as he continues to fight the U.S. government’s attempts to deport him to the very authorities who persecuted him. Despite these systemic threats, he remains a dedicated father in Southern California, where the court has granted him 85% custody of his seven-year-old daughter, a U.S. citizen. Under Red Notice is his debut memoir, documenting a harrowing journey from elite athlete and entrepreneur to a survivor of global political weaponization and fabricated charges.
