I write upper middle-grade mysteries and adult satire. I write for readers who like adventure, wholesome stories, and for teachers looking for the perfect read-aloud. My background includes thirteen years as a U.S. Marine, three decades coaching varsity sports, and years mentoring youth in the outdoors.

As a business professor at Utah Valley University and in my work at BYU, I teach leadership through the emotional power of classics like A Wrinkle in Time, The Little Prince, and Huck Finn. My research at George Fox University, where I earned my doctorate, focused specifically on adolescent leadership—experiences that helped me craft this story about conflict, teamwork, and the youthful art of getting into—and out of—trouble.

I currently live in Pleasant Grove, Utah, but grew up in Oregon. I am a grandfather of twenty.
