Jon Tucker

Jon Tucker married the girl next door and began building their home - a traditional ketch - while they were still teenagers in New Zealand. Their subsequent live-aboard lifestyle interspersed teaching with voyaging for over three decades. With their five lively sons on Correspondence education, they have criss-crossed the Pacific to unusual destinations including a protest at the French nuclear test zone, the Jurassic Park island, Chatham Islands and even Antarctica. Jon’s numerous freelance articles and seven books reflect this sailing lifestyle and his passionate interest in environmental issues. Two of his Those Kids series titles were finalists for the Environmental Award for Children’s Literature. He currently divides his time between New Zealand and Tasmania.
