Linda Hartley studied dance and creative writing at Dartington College of Arts, UK, then went on to train as a somatic movement therapist and psychotherapist. She has worked in these fields for five decades, as a therapist and teacher, developing professional training programmes in Germany, the UK, Lithuania and Russia. Writing has always woven through her practice and she has published six non-fiction books related to this work.
The Broken Line is her first novel, and Angel Wing is its prequel. Together they tell the story of three generations of women in a family torn apart by betrayal, lies and loss, as trauma is passed down through their maternal lineage. The experience of young Ellen growing up without a mother during WW2 is at the heart of Angel Wing. The Broken Line tells the story of her daughter’s quest to heal the transgenerational trauma passed down to her, and is a fictional imagining of the inner journey a client might go through in the therapeutic process of self-discovery.
Linda lives in England, near the North Norfolk coast.
