Mark Bohac recently published his debut novel, "A Bullet in the Head, An Arrow Through the Heart." He started working on the novel in 1993 while living in Atlanta, and, in his words, "running out of options." A career in insurance paid the bills for the next 30+ years, and with that nonsense out of the way, he was able to come back to his love of writing as a sixtysomething and finish what he started so long ago. Along the way, he ran marathons, dabbled in stand-up comedy, and raised four kids with his muse. He tends bar when he's not writing.

Bohac counts Irving's "The World According to Garp" and Melville's "Moby Dick" among the great works of literature that inspired him to write. Bohac's writing is a mix of happy and sad, told in a common voice, as it examines the themes of friendship and coming of age. He promises his follow-up novel won't take another 30+ years to write, and he promises it'll come in at less than 500 pages, as well.

A "Bullet in the Head, An Arrow Through the Heart " was recently named a Winner of the 2024 National Indie Excellence Award and was selected as a Finalist in both the 2024 Wishing Shelf Awards and the 2024 American Fiction Awards with American Book Fest.
