Matt Ritter

MATT RITTER grew up in rural Mendocino County, California. After earning a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from U.C. Santa Barbara, he attended U.C. San Diego for a Ph.D. in plant biology and is now a biology professor in San Luis Obispo, California. The author of several best-selling non-fiction books covering California’s natural history, Ritter also writes award-winning fictional novels and, in his spare time, is an avid woodworker, mason, and gardener.
