Moises Amsel

I grew up in crime-ridden Venezuela, where I survived a kidnapping at just 19 years old. After this traumatic event, I became obsessed with figuring out why it happened, which at the time ignited a fire that led me to become an attorney and seek justice.

While pursuing a law degree, I kept active in performance arts, a skill that I had taken on early in life, and one that I have consistently worked on thereafter. Being able to perform while pursuing a law degree, allowed me to satiate my ever increasing creative appetite while continuing to mature as a storyteller.

My education in the entertainment and legal fields, combined with an uncommon set of life
experiences, provided me the tools to understand, and eventually venture into, screenwriting.

Once I dove in, screenwriting became my passion. After an introspective look into my journey, I found that my greatest strength as a screenwriter is my ability to leverage my rare life experiences to build enticing story worlds in which universal tales can be told through a unique lens.

I was fortunate to have my first work as a writer picked up by Fox21, which further fueled my passion for growth. As a result, I’ve been able to build a robust body of work that has earned me invaluable opportunities, such as my current position as Executive Director of Development at Gato Grande, a division of MGM studios, where I get to approach screenwriting from a different perspective as I continue to advance towards my professional goals while helping to fulfill the studios’ mission.
