I was born in Blackburn to Mauritian parents in the spring of 1977 the year of punk, a season of life in a time of destruction. My writing was once described by my English teacher as, “like Lewis Carroll’s.” However, I thought she meant Carl Lewis, the then 100m Olympic Champion, and decided that writing wasn’t for me. However, the bug had taken hold of me and whilst at University I entered the BBC Talent Awards and won the sketch writing competition. This led to a 5 year stint in stand up comedy, once headlining a gig with Jimmy Carr and Lee Mack. Once I became a Father, I decided to return to writing, and my adult novel The Influencer was shortlisted in the Westword First Chapter Competition in 2025. I was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult which explained why I would jump out from behind the filing cabinet, roll on the floor and fire a pretend gun at the partners of my personal injury firm. I have 3 children and I have been happily married to my wife Rachel for the last 20 years. I am a trophy husband but it is sometimes tiresome to be favourably judged on my looks alone. Other than reading and writing, I love football, cricket and boxing. My favourite foods include my Mum’s Lamb Briani, Octopus Vindaye and Vegan Percy Pigs. My children's book; Noah and the Finlayworld Theme Park is a finalist in the 2026 Page Turner Writing Award. I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
