Roger Wilson-Crane

I began writing at the age of fourteen, when I wrote and directed a school play. Even then, I was creating characters who felt real, flawed, funny, and true to life. Although my working life pulled me in other directions for many years, it provided a rich source of material that I finally began to draw upon in 2020.

My debut novel, Certified, a comedy-drama, briefly became an Amazon bestseller and received international recognition, including the 2021 International CIBA Mark Twain Grand Prize and a Bronze Medal in the 2022 Readers’ Favorite International Book Awards. While those achievements were gratifying, what mattered most was that readers connected with the real-life scenarios, the characters, and the genuine ups and downs that shape all our lives.

Following the success of Certified, I adapted it into a six-part television comedy-drama, returning to my first creative love: scriptwriting. I am currently developing Escorted, a 6 x 60’ drama about a middle-aged man who reluctantly enters the world of male escorting to save his family and livelihood. The series explores the difficult choices people sometimes make, the reasons more mature clients seek companionship without intimacy, and the emotional consequences of those decisions. The project was shortlisted for the All3Media New Writers Collective 2024.

My writing is always character-led, grounded in how real people behave in ordinary circumstances. I ask what they fear, what they need, and what they are willing to risk. From there, each story unfolds organically. Ultimately, I aim to create dramas that resonate strongly with the 25–59 audience “sweet spot.”
