Scott Reisfield is the grand-nephew of Greta Garbo and wrote the 2005 book Garbo’s Garbos: Portraits from her Private Collection.

Realizing that prior writers had missed the importance of Garbo to the evolution of the role of women in society, he undertook extensive research that has allowed him to place her in the proper context. He shows how Garbo reshaped the idea of what it meant to be a woman a century ago. An independent woman who lived in a complicated world.

He had access to family documents and collections that have not been used prior to this new book. What emerges is the portrait of a talented actor who was self-possessed and focused. Who was clear on how she wanted to portray feminine life.

Reisfield has a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He spent forty years in business, thirty of them in senior management, working in companies ranging from large corporations to startups. He was also the vice-president of marketing for a national association. He lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
