Sherri Matthews

My debut memoir is a true love story for these fractured times about the ties that bind, second chances, and what it means to have an American Dream. A dual timeline weaves a physical and metaphorical fault line as a love letter to a young American airman who didn't get a second chance, and to "my" California. Always home, forever homesick.

My work has appeared in various magazines, anthologies and online, and has been shortlisted for the Fish Publishing Short Memoir Prize and Letter Review Prize. I was also a previous finalist for the Page Turner Awards. For twenty years, I was a British “mom” in California. Today I live with my husband and son in Somerset, shepherded by two little black cats while recovering from the recent loss of my mum, my number one fan.
