Steve Blame lives in Germany. He explored his sexual identity during the rampant homophobia in Britain of the '80s, going from denial to acceptance to the fight against bigotry as his generation's only 'out' TV host. Today, having experienced the up and downsides of fame, Steve continues his struggle through the features and pilots he writes that highlight the outsider and normalise gay life. Steve lied about his sexuality to his parents, school friends, and teachers during the late ‘70s, and realised that queer people had to lie or lead double lives during WWII which is why they were often recruited as spies. As a Brit who moved to Germany in ’94, he became fascinated by the bravery of gay men and women during WWII. Steve believes the ground is ripe for these tales to resonate in our contemporary climate. His feature script MAJOR HACKER'S WAR highlights the commitment queer people made to a war that would never deliver their freedoms, yet would sow the seeds of Civil and LGBTQ+ rights.
Steve writes primarily dramas. He has two projects in the top 1% on Coverfly, has been a winner in both Shore Scripts TV and Feature competitions, and is a finalist in numerous others including the 2022 Nashville Screenwriting competition. LGBTQ+ issues and their untold stories have fascinated him for many years.
