I began writing screenplays in May of 2019 after years of ventilating my fantasies through New Age Music. I've always been intrigued with the idea of time hopping, breaking through the time barrier. I've been blessed with a wild and vivid imagination, even as a young boy. I've written a number of scripts over the past 6 years, placed in a couple of formidable (and a couple of maybe not so, as much) Screenplay Competitions. "On This Date In Time" is the epitome of time travel (in my opinion, obviously). It's not my best "formatted" screenplay. But it's the greatest story I've ever scripted.
Synopsis: "On This Date In Time"
Sean Reynolds is a 28-year-old single man living in Golden Colorado just west of Denver along the Continental Divide. Sean is a slightly sarcastic egotistical “Smart-Ass” who works as a Manager at IKEA in Denver. Sean inherited his Mother's home in Golden, shortly after she passed away. One afternoon Sean proceeds to a yard sale in hopes to find furniture and “Knick-Knacks” for his home. Instead, he becomes infatuated with a frame of a 1947 Volkswagen Beetle sitting in the garage beyond the yard sale. The vintage Beetle looks as if it had been altered into some type of a “Gaming Simulator”. Sean learns by the homeowner that her grandfather (A Neo-Physicist) had been working on the VW every night for the past 20 years, living in a loft above the garage. The grandfather passed away a few years earlier. Sean remaining optimistic, purchases the VW and transports it back to his garage, only to discover that it cannot be refurbished. One night, Sean finds the ignition key. With extreme curiosity, Sean “flips” the ignition...igniting the Volkswagen -- sending him back in time to June 6th, 1944, above the Normandy Beach Head. Sean would then proceed traveling in time to 10 major historical events, minutes before they happen. His journey would include, witnessing the Assassination of JFK, November 22nd, 1963. He sits on the same bus with Rosa Parks in Montgomery Alabama, December 1st, 1955. He abruptly gets ‘thrown in’ to assist fighting the Chicago Fire, October 8th, 1871. Goes into complete hysteria at the North Tower Entrance on September 11th, 2001. Meets a 15-year-old Paul McCartney in Liverpool England on July 7th, 1957, and struggles through a conversation with “Adam” at the Tigris/Euphrates River, Persian Gulf (The Garden Of Eden) Circa: 4000 BC. Sean finally arrives back home, thousands of years in the future -- to an Apocalyptic world.
