Valerie Anne Burns

Valerie Anne Burns has had essays from her book Caution: Mermaid Crossing, Voyages of a Motherless Daughter published in Grande Dame Literary, Deep Overstock, Sea to Sky Review, The Remnant Archive, Libretto Magazine, and HerStry. Essays in print include Chicken Soup for the Soul: Tough Times Won’t Last but Tough People Will and Rituals Anthology by Bell Press. In September 2021, she received a Finalist Award from Page Turner Awards in the category of manuscript submission and was awarded scholarships to the 2022/2023 Santa Barbara Writers Conference and the 2016 Prague Summer Writing Program. In May of 2022. In 2022, she received her certificate diploma in Creative Writing from Santa Barbara City College that included Advanced Screenwriting where her screenplay Captive Eco-Warrior was completed. Additionally, Valerie Anne was sponsored on a trip to Italy and The Dominican Republic to present her workshop, “Living and Healing Through Color.”, as well as blog her experience in Rome for a for a breast cancer nonprofit. She is a breast cancer survivor and lives in Santa Barbara, California with her therapy cat, Lucia.
