Although a "cop" book, it reads more like a book about a Black man who just happens to be a cop. Confronted with racism, and a upbringing that led to juvenile delinquency, the author was able to overcome these obstacles and reconcile with what it means to be a Black cop in today's America.

The title, "The Trouble With My Aunt"  is embraced by  two, thorny vines, which upon closer inspection are actually DNA strands. Butterflies perch on the strands.
