'Chronicles' in the title…
'Chronicles' in the title fills me with misgivings and although the writing is free of obvious errors in the use of language, it feels a bit stiff, formal and rigid, relying quite heavily on cliche and terminology too familiar and commonplace. The question of any fantasy writing has to be this: what's different about this one? When the answer needs to be provided in the first ten pages, it must be evident. I don't see it in this excerpt.
