Martín Espinoza is a house-arrested PhD student in Highland Park, Los Angeles — drinking too much, watching his pregnant wife Maria walk out the door, and running out of people willing to wait for him to get it together. After a disastrous intervention and a stint in the ICU, he lands on the couch of Max — a quietly wise, recovering alcoholic mailman who lost his husband to AIDS, got sober, and has been delivering mail and brewing matcha ever since. Over thirty days of tea, Sunday papers, and donut shop mornings, Max doesn't fix Martín — he just shows him what recovery actually looks like when nobody's watching: perfectly imperfect.
