Sue -Lynne

S.L. Sheppard is a writer of poems, short stories, plays and novels. Her poems and short stories have been published in magazines, and anthologies in The Bahamas, England, and Ireland. She is the recipient of international awards for short fiction and poetry from Australia, The United States of America, England and Ireland. Her Bahamian novel, The Green Shutters was launched at the Regency Theatre in 2003. In 2005 it was chosen for the Bahamas Minister of Education Book Club. Her radio play Sisters was broadcast from Cool 96 for twenty-eight episodes. She has written and directed national award-winning plays which have been performed at the Regency Theatre, Grand Bahama and the Dundas Centre, New Providence. Her Bahamian plays include Staff Room Gossip, The Woman from Nassau, You Never Go Back, With A Little Bit of Luck, Trapped in Marriage, Daddy’s Funeral and In the Bedroom. Her second novel, The Left-Over Daughters was published by Duho Books in 2018. In 2022 she won third place for her short story Watching the Waves in the Caribbean Magazine Plus Short Story competition. She will be featured on CARICON, the Caribbean Literature Festival in June 2022
