I live in the north east where I draw much of my inspiration. Following a long career in public service, during which I was Chief Emergency Planning Officer for Cleveland, Head of Resilience for Government Office for the North East and Chair of the National Steering Committee for Warning and Informing the Public, I retired to a much quieter life of writing, painting and keeping fit. I write only for pleasure and the moment I cease to enjoy the process will be the moment I stop...but that will never happen. 'The Wisdom of the Wise' is my third novel.

Logline
Trouble is brewing in the sleepy village of Clamford in the Vale where the locals are experiencing hard times since the winter storms ripped away their ancient road bridge. The pub is struggling, the church congregation is dwindling, and the farmers are wearing permanent frowns. Salvation appears in the form of a generous legacy bequeathed by a recently deceased lady of the manor, but her generosity comes with conditions...conditions which soon generate a scandal that few will ever forget.
Told with gentle humour, this contemporary tale introduces a host of colourful characters.

Sounds like you were quite a busy fella in the years prior to retirement! Sounds like you have found your passion project in putting ink to paper. Congratulations on becoming a Page Turner eBook Award finalist. Best of wishes on your writing journey. ~ Adell Ryan

'The farmers were wearing permanent frowns.' Love it!

I can see this working on the small screen. Totally a serial I'd watch. 👍

Well done for reaching the finals and good luck for the next round of judging! 😊

Hi Nikki

Thank you so much for your very kind comments, they are much appreciated.

The book was inspired by a 1970's BBC series 'Clochemerle' which I loved. It was based on the original novel by Gabriel Chevallier and the plot concerns a scandal in a small village in France. If you haven't seen/read it, I recommend it. I confess that when I had finished my book, I did feel that it would translate easily to the small screen.

Thanks again!
