In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, divorced teacher Tess Cameron becomes the unwitting guardian of a bi-racial orphan. She is compelled to take the little girl to Colorado's San Luis Valley to meet her grandfather, the only immediate family the child has. Estranged from her mother and bitter from their long separation, he is unaware of his granddaughter's existence, her interracial background, and rejects her.

Grant Wilder, a widowed outfitter, offers Tess temporary employment on his ranch. This gives Tess a reason to stay in the area and continue with her reuniting efforts. But can Tess's wandering spirit find the faith to accept a permanent responsibility for the child? Will she open her heart to find love again in this land of amazing beauty and haunting secrets?

Financing shorts is a difficult gamble and mostly, producers will not look at them. The concept is good.
