Do it here... Nice idea! Charlotte Wakefield Wed, 03/03/2021 - 17:21 Great idea, Paula! Seems like the last year has got a lot of people thinking more creatively. Hopefully we'll see the fruit of that hard work in the awards this year, and something to look forward to! Pandemic Writing CharlieWrites Mon, 08/03/2021 - 11:13 Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the craft of writing. I found myself furloughed from my job during lockdown, so decided to spend my time really learning how to write. I've always had a vivid imagination and thought up stories in my head, so this free time seemed like a great opportunity to start learning how to share these stories. I've found some great resources for writers on this site here - https://pageturnerawards.com/resources-for-authors-and-writers as well as other sites, so thanks for pointing me in the right direction. If any other writers have more suggestions for useful writing tips, I'm all ears! Thanks, Charlie. One Year On... CharlieWrites Mon, 29/03/2021 - 11:23 Wow, we're now one year on from the first UK lockdown. What a strange year to be reflecting on. It's been great for my writing, as I've had a lot more time to write and think creatively. It's also given me a new perspective on things... Of course, we must recognise that this time has been hugely challenging for so many on both personal and professional levels, especially for the creative arts industry. I can only hope that the next few months and years bring good luck and prosperity to all. Thank you Page Turner Awards for offering us creatives an opportunity for hope after this past year. Best, Charlie. Pandemic Chris Calder Fri, 30/04/2021 - 12:47 Hi everyone, A question: Why is it called "lock down" when we are all locked up? Just asking... Chris Pandemic Writing Dana Wayne Fri, 04/06/2021 - 20:05 Oh my did the pandemic do a number on my creativity last year! I started out alright but by mid-year, my muse took a vacation and months went by without me writing anything. By November or so, I started getting back in the groove and by January published my fifth novel and started on number six. Was thrilled when I found this contest, too since I have one of my books I would love to see in a movie - Don't we all, right? These opportunities are so important and I'm thrilled to be able to participate! Writing in the pandemic Paula Sheridan Mon, 07/06/2021 - 11:26 Here's the results of our pandemic survey about writing in the pandemic:https://pageturnerawards.com/entrants-stories/will-lockdown-produce-mor… Pandemic writing derekniven Tue, 08/06/2021 - 21:05 I actually found the pandemic a great opportunity to tackle various writing projects. I published the third book in my series of nonfiction historical biographies of Scottish sporting heroes in July 2020. I began the research phase of the fourth book in the series, which I completed in early May 2021 and it is my entry in the Page Turner Awards 2021 Writer Award category for newly completed manuscripts. In 2016, I published my first novel, which was a sci-fi apocalyptic thriller and originally, I had no plans for further sci-fi works. I used the pandemic to write the space opera novellas which will form the sequel and prequel to my sci-fi novel, when I get around to publishing them. So, all in all, writing-wise it has been a productive pandemic for me. And, who knows, that Hollywood film deal may just be around the corner.
